There’s a pair of Birkenstock sandals wondering what they did wrong on Orca island. Hopefully they have been adopted by a friendly foot twin since I abruptly replaced the abandoned shoes.
Holly, as we head out Monday on the road to Montana, you have given me reason to watch for the one (or maybe more than one) shoe along the way! Oh, the stories they can tell. I love your writing!!
Aw, thank you!! It's a lovely time of year to visit Montana. Ruby the van and I were there ... I think it was two years ago now ... and found some lovely spots down by the river. May your journey be delightful and dotted with a few storied shoes. :)
Haha! Amphitheaters and concert halls will for sure do that! This recalls to mind when a friend lost her shoe while we preteen-rushed the stage at my first concert, They Might Be Giants. We went back into the empty amphitheater (I think it was at a fairgrounds), and stood giggling and wide-eyed as John Flansburgh (oh my!) walked by.

Maybe those Birks are off telling their adventures to all the other shoes left behind ;).
